Come and paint with Francesca Shakespeare and discover her love of colour and texture. She is very experienced at introducing new students to new materials and showing them ways to capture the vibrance and character of a place.
Painting outside whenever possible, Francesca will introduce you to a relaxed response to your surroundings. You will work on site-inspired pieces over two days.
Day One: with water based materials, mainly gouache
Day Two: with oils.
The preparation of coloured grounds is essential for Francesca’s vibrant surfaces, and some time will be given to this. She will also share with you her love of dry pigments, and her experience of using binders and mediums.
These workshops are suitable for any level.

Incl. all materials. Take home all your discoveries, experiments and creations.
Please bring an apron and old clothing – it could get messy

About Francesca Shakespeare
Francesca has been painting for a living all her adult life.
After a degree in Fine Art and Italian and a a period living in Italy, she had a studio in Notting Hill doing murals and decorative painting.A move to Oxford in the 90’s allowed her to develop her own practice, and she started exhibiting in The New Grafton London, and locally with The Oxford Arts Society and Oxfordshire Artweeks. As well as other galleries Francesca is a regular at Josie Eastwood Fine Arts now based up the road on the river Test in Longstock.
The Mediterranean has been a great inspiration, with friends and family in Italy, France and Portugal. However, during the past year, she has embraced the English Countryside with vigour and focus.
Profoundly committed to art in the community, Francesca also teaches and runs projects for The Ashmolean Museum, enabling people of all ages to engage in creative processes and ideas.
