For January–February 2027 Clare Dryden has put together an exciting series of creative, immersive retreats in Tangiers, Morocco.
Kate is delighted to have been asked to join Clare for the first week in Tangiers, Morocco. This will be a week of art in beautiful surroundings, leading to shared inspiration. The colours, smells, buildings, gardens and food will ignite the senses. It will be a thrilling way to spend a week in January!
You may recognise Clare Dryden and Kate Measham as Hampshire Art Studio, started 10 years ago. Now, they pursue their own exciting projects and interests, working together whenever possible. Take a look at Clare’s website to see what she is up to.
Kate Measham’s – ‘Exploring Tangiers with a Sketchbook’ is the first week of three creative retreats.
We’ll be based at Dar Sinclair. It is a stunning, newly renovated private villa located in the exclusive mountain area of Tangiers.
The villa overlooks sweeping views of the Bay of Tangiers. This will be our creative home. It will be calm, luxurious, and nurturing; the perfect environment to slow down, observe, and get into our art.
There will be 10 of us each week. Additionally, there will be time to chat, eat, drink, and make friends. We will have a lovely experience.
For those who have attended these away art workshops before, you know how hard we work and play. You also know how much pleasure it all brings.
Where We’ll Stay
Dar Sinclair is a beautiful, staffed villa. (Click on the link for a mouth watering glimpse of this fabulous villa).
It is set within 3 acres of terraced gardens. These gardens lead down to a tranquil 6-metre swimming pool.
All main bedrooms enjoy breathtaking views across the city and sea.
Cost & What’s Included
£2,300 per person, per week. Contact Clare Dryden for a price if you want to share with a painting friend, or a none painting partner.
All inclusive, except flights
The price includes:
– Collection from Tangiers Airport
– Tuition and some materials. You will be sent an appropriate list of materials, according to you chosen course.
– Luxury accommodation
– All meals prepared daily
– Fully staffed house and housekeeping
– Use of gardens, pool, and studio spaces
– A deeply supportive and inspiring creative environment
It is strongly recommended that each person takes out their own travel insurance.
Please note: there is one day during the week when our wonderful house staff have a well-earned rest day.
On this day, I hope to organise an optional outing focused on Moroccan crafts and textiles. I will do my best to include the cost of this excursion. However, you may wish to allow extra funds for lunch, supper, and any personal purchases.
Morocco has a tipping culture. It is customary to tip house staff and drivers at the end of the stay. I will offer guidance on this during the week.
This retreat is about time, space, and attention. You will step away from everyday demands to focus fully on your creative practice.
You will be beautifully looked after in one of North Africa’s most inspiring cities.
Places are limited, and some weeks will fill quickly. The middle felting week has already been filled. The other weeks have interested people whom I will email separately.

£1000 deposits ( non-refundable) will be required by the end of April, with the remaining amount due by the end of October. I will email each of you who reserves a place individually with account details etc
