Art Draw Paint – art courses in Hampshire, and beyond

Courses at Art Draw Paint are designed to teach you the craft of the area you are interested in, whether it is painting in oils, acrylics or watercolour, drawing, life drawing or mixed media. Once you can master your craft you can take it anywhere.

We are not interested in a house style, but in encouraging you to find your own voice. and helping you to develop the  necessary skills to use that voice.

We have classes for total beginners, and for the more experienced. You will have a chance to try new things, and brush up old skills. Classes are small and you get personal attention, together with support from other class members. Most classes are taught by Kate Measham BA (hons.), but there will be visiting tutors for various specialist, extended subjects.

If you would like one to one tuition, or advice on portfolios please contact Kate on kate@artdrawpaint.com

Each term there will be an outing to an exhibition, or a local attraction, followed by work in the studio. This is designed to encourage you to use a sketchbook to take visual notes.

Drawing and Life Drawing are useful, probably essential classes to attend, if possible. If you were playing a musical instrument you would expect to practice scales – these are your visual scales.

Kate has been teaching and running courses in Hampshire for  over 10 years. She started Life drawing sessions and bringing in friends to share the costs.  When she lived outside Stockbridge Kate ran classes from her home studio, with regular courses on the Greek Island of Zakynthos.

Having  moved, there are classes  at the Riverside Yurt, nr Barton Stacey. Have a look at Riverside Yurt to see some of the other things that happen at this spectacular venue.

Kate Measham worked in the interior design department of the Savoy Group until she moved to Hampshire. As soon as she could she did a degree in ‘Visual Art through Drawing’ at Winchester School of Art (part of Southampton University). Since she got her BA (hons.) Kate has painted, drawn, wood turned and taught. She has exhibited at Josie Eastwood Gallery, The Angelus Gallery, Fisherton Mill, and various other exhibition spaces.

If you are interested in any of the courses please contact Kate. You will be asked to pay in full before your course starts. This will guarantee your place.  Places are on a first come first serve basis.

  1. I would love to do one of your courses but have only just moved to Wherwell. I know I am too late for Autumn courses but are you doing more courses next year?

    1. Hello Liz,
There are places on the autumn course for 15, 22 and 29th November. You are very welcome to come along to these. I will post the new year courses before too long. Best wishes, Kate
