LEARN ABOUT LINO Printing

  • At Bransbury Studio, nr Winchester with HAMPSHIRE ART studio
  • 30th January, 10.00am – 4.00pm
  • £80.00/person
  • tea, coffee and biscuits available all day. Please bring your own lunch

Lino printing is a simple form of fine art printmaking.

Traditionally lino is used like a printing plate partly because it is cheap, and also it leaves no texture of its own. You will be experimenting with a few materials that can be easier to cut into. The lino/plate is then inked, a piece of paper placed over it, and pressure applied by hand, press or back of spoon to transfer the ink to the paper. The result, a linocut print. This is quite a simple process with often dramatic results.

 BOOK YOUR PLACE NOW

The easiest style of lino print is a single-color print. You cut the design once, and print it using one colour only. You often see black used because of its strong contrast to white paper. In this workshop you will explore different tools and different marks. AND produce a linocut print.

You will need to buy the basic introduction lino kit, and some cartridge paper. Then you will be ready to Learn About Lino

Once you have used this workshop to learn about lino you can progress to more complicated approaches.

The CASS art kit is on offer reduced from £29.99 to £19.95

New Classes start in September

It is a glorious sunny day; a Sunday to laze about with a book, or a sketchbook, or a Sunday to get jobs done. Don’t waste it…pick fruit, get outside. This evening plan which autumn classes will make the darker days more interesting and fulfilling.

Blue skies; ripe damsons

Autumn isn’t here yet but there is change in the air. At this time of year I promise myself I’m going to take up something new, French, Tai Chi, marathon running, etching. Some are more successful than others.

September is a time for new beginnings

New Classes with HAMPSHIRE ART studio

This week is the start of the Autumn Term for artdrawpaint with HAMPSHIRE ART studio. I have classes for those of you who want to learn about painting with oils, drawing classes, regular life drawing classes, and painting classes (jointly with Chris Davies). There are five drawing classes, five life drawing classes and five painting classes. They are linked and progressive, but can very easily be taken individually.

If you need help deciding what is right for you contact me and we can work through it together.

If you want to extend the summer join me in Andalucia in 4 weeks time for a week of painting at the very lovely Casa Rosa.

There are other classes with new tutors, and new venues are going to be part of the HAMPSHIRE ART studio remit. I am very excited about it.

This term is the start of our Master Classes with Nick Bashall and Sarah Spackman sharing their expertise. Their classes are both fully booked however we are taking a few people onto waiting lists. There will be more masterclasses in the new year so keep an eye on what is happening.

Visit HAMPSHIRE ART studio for more information and to book.
