Still Life, Colour and Composition

The workshop “Still Life, Colour and Composition,” led by Kate Measham on 12th and 26th November 2025 at Mottisfont Village Hall, invites participants to explore innovative approaches to still life painting. Aimed at those with some painting experience, it emphasizes play and experimentation, helping attendees break free from creative ruts. All materials can be used, however Kate will focus on oil paints and diverse sketching tools.

Autumn Painting Workshops

In autumn, consider starting new artistic endeavors, or enhancing your skills through various workshops. Courses include Beginners Oil Painting Parts I and II, exploring equipment and color mixing. On the Shoulders of Giants, Poussin, is a study of his influence on artists. Additionally, a Still Life workshop aims to encourage creativity and experimentation.

Trees – Portrait or Symbol?

Poets, writers, and artists of all sorts have been inspired by trees. Their majesty, age, embrace, rise and fall with seasons, the bleakness of a dying tree and the wonder of new growth have inspired people in a variety of ways. This course offers a fresh look, exploring different approaches with reference to creative giants over a great spread of time.
If you have followed any of our ‘On the Shoulders of Giants’ workshops you may recognise a similarity – instead of working from one artist we are examining one theme.
