What to expect on this Oil Painting course
On this course you will be given many exercises to try. Each week will have a different focus.
- 27th January Still Life with reference to SJ Peploe and the Scottish Colourists
- 3rd February, Valentines day with reference to Venus and Adonis, Veronese
- 17th February, Landscape with reference to Robert Bevan and Paul Henry
- 24th February, Figures with reference to David Park and Sargy Mann

These differing approaches will stretch you and open your eyes to fresh possibilities. Kate encourages you to experiment, play and enjoy the medium. Oil paints are forgiving; you don’t have to tiptoe around them. You will try an intuitive approach as well as more measured sketches. It is important that you enjoy the process. Often the work that has gone wrong are the pieces that teach you the most. These ones can be the pieces on which you have worked hardest. This is where you learn to try again, and see what happens.

Materials can be found online and in good art shops. Jacksons’ Art is a fairly comprehensive site with good quality own brand products.

- Other colours may be used, warning will be given
In addition you will need:
