Exploring Ancient Woodland

Spend time in ancient woodland. Record more than ‘just’ a tree; think about texture, pattern, shape, abstraction, atmosphere, narrative, attitude, meaning.

Ancient Woodland

The Ancient woodland of chalk downs, where Hampshire and Wiltshire meet, is a magical place. From the top edge of this wood you can see Stockbridge Down, Danebury Ring, and other hill top strongholds. Walking through the woods you have a sense of other travellers, others walking through and working in the space. Coppicing and charcoal burning, for example, is still practised as it has been for centuries.
