Measured, Intuitive, Expressive
Drawing is the starting block for all visual art.
Children draw before they can read or write; why do adults falter? The more we learn about great masters from the past, or contemporary talented artists, the more we want to be like them in some way. Don’t let your admiration stop you in your tracks. I want you to steal their methods and ideas and take them on your own journey.

This course is designed to teach you about drawing, with techniques both classical and contemporary, using a variety of materials. The most important thing is to enjoy the process. The more you enjoy the process the more you will experiment, practise and explore drawing.

Materials

This list is the essential elements.
At times I will want you to bring something extra for the following lesson. At other times I might bring materials with me for the class to use.
The sketchbook is for you to use in your own time, to take notes, to sketch your coffee cup, to stick in articles from the papers, whatever you fancy. This is a place to doodle, draw, glue, think, play, mess about. I have small, light weight sketchbooks I keep in my handbag to use when I’m in a cafe, on a train, whenever.
If you want help with this list please ask.
- A4 sketchbook
- pad of A2 cartridge paper
