What to Expect with the Mentoring Lunch Group

Held at Hampshire Art studio twice a term over the year, the Mentoring Lunch Group will be a gathering of students, ex students, tutors and mentors over lunch and an afternoon. It offers artists who are at the point of wanting more from their creative endeavours the experience of a year of support and guidance from mentors and group members.

The year provides mentoring, one-to-one and group tutorials and discussions about development. It will be a supportive and constructive environment with practicing artists and arts specialists sharing their knowledge and experience with the group.

There will not be a taught class on the afternoon of the lunch. Work may be created between sessions which you will be able to show, and to gain guidance.

Participants will gain valuable help and encouragement from the in-depth discussion of their work with feedback from experienced artists, and from others in the Group. You will be encouraged to look at a wide range of artists, both contemporary and beyond, whose practice might relate to your work. Consistent encouragement and guidance will be offered over the year aiming to build your confidence and help you find the direction you want to take your work.

We are keen to encourage a full range of applicants It is not expected that you will have an exhibition history or formal art education.
