Drawing is at the heart of our courses at Hampshire Art studio.

There are numerous definitions of drawing, some more helpful than others. Drawing offers a space to think and explore ideas. It can be 2D or 3D. It can be the creation of an individual, or a collaboration. It can be in colour. It can be a line, a word, a smudge. It can be technical and expressive. It can be ‘how to…’ or ‘why’, just for the hell of it, or as an end in itself.

We FIRMLY believe everyone can draw. It is our job to help you find the confidence and the skills to draw as you want to draw.

Join us for this workshop to explore some of the options.

During the Renaissance the term ‘disegno’ implied drawing both as a technique to be distinguished from colouring and also as the creative idea made visible in the preliminary sketch. Despite this insistence on the formation of line and the implied lack of colour, few would deny that a work formed by dots or shading or wholly in line but in a range of colours is a drawing.

What to Expect from the Exploring Drawing Workshop

Over the course of the three days you will be introduced to different approaches to drawing, to collaborative drawing, expressive drawing and a more detailed, technical approach. You will be experimenting with different materials and techniques in an open and approachable way. It is tiring, but exciting and thought provoking too.

New tutors, new materials, new methods.
