What to Expect on this Course

Day 1

Local ceramicist, Tash Fry, will introduce the art of hand building ceramics. She will teach you how to sculpt your own cup, breakfast bowl, granola spoon and plate. You will learn about clay as a material, and the importance of honouring its earth’s origins as you explore the building and finishing of your pieces by collecting river water to smooth your work.

Day 2

Today will be a glaze workshop focussing on foraged pigments. You will decorate your pieces in a glaze you will create from scratch from the local earth materials. Experiment with pressing leaves, plant life and stones into your pieces to weave poetry, nature and symbolism into your unique breakfast set.
