Art For All
Hampshire Art Studio offers a range of exciting Art courses throughout the year.
The idyllic position of this purpose built, fully equipped studio. The wooden framed building looks out over fields going down to the River Test. In addition to courses in the Studio, there are regular courses online, so you can benefit from expert tuition on the banks of a river, or without leaving home.
Courses are run termly, for a few weeks, or as one-off workshops, and masterclasses. All these are led by encouraging and supportive tutors who are highly experienced, and eminent in their particular field. During the Summer months there are fortnights of themed workshops that run for one, two or three days. These offer an opportunity to explore something new, or as part of an exciting staycation.
Come and see what you can achieve. Take a chance to go on a creative journey that could change your life.

Mission

Hampshire Art Studio caters for all abilities, from complete beginners to more experienced artists. Its philosophy is to bring out the very best in people, particularly those who feel they are ‘not creative’. Time and again students prove that they can produce work that’s special and unique to them – something they can be proud of. And experienced artists, too, can gain inspiration and instruction to further their work.
Our aim has been to develop a unique and creative environment at our lovely studio. The approach is based on finding tutors who are both experts in their field, and, importantly, excellent communicators. The Hampshire Art studio courses, classes and workshops have always been designed to enhance the ability of students to develop their own creative identities, as well as confidence in materials and core abilities.
People
Clare Dryden

Clare has always had a passion for art from winning a school competition and proudly holding up her picture in assembly through to having to persuade her parents to let her go to Goldsmiths to do a Foundation Art year, before agreeing to go on to do something ‘more sensible’. She went to UCL only to find The Slade School of fine art was right next door and so rather than spend her time in the labs (she was studying for a degree in Botany & Genetics) she enrolled in life drawing classes as a drop in student.
Clare had an exciting career in advertising, had her own agency and other entrepreneurial businesses. Through the Yellow Gallery, London, Clare toured end of year shows to pick new up and coming artists and help kick start their careers. Now, Clare has a passion for bringing out the creativity in people and says Hampshire Art studio is fulfilling all her artistic needs. She says; ‘’I am thrilled to finally be allowed to do my own art while also learning and experimenting from the hugely talented tutors that come our way.’
Kate Measham

Kate is an expert doodler, and drawer of everyday domestic objects, constantly sketching her surroundings. Having graduated from the
Winchester School of Art she has wanted to inspire others to enjoy, explore and play with different techniques of drawing, without inhibitions. ‘Just draw what you see. The more you look, the better you will see’ is her motto.
Kate’s talent has seen her teaching in and around Hampshire forthe past 15 years. In her spare time she is busy drawing in St Ives, Cornwall, or with The Royal Drawing School, and looking for artists at the top of their fields, to join Hampshire Art Studio and to share their skills in courses, workshops and Masterclasses. Internationally Kate has had residencies in Greece and Florence and takes groups to Spain annually on drawing and painting retreats. You will see Kate’ work prolifically on Instagram and she has had exhibitions in Hampshire (Josie Eastwood Gallery in Longstock) and at the Mall Galleries London.
Kate has a passion for woodlands and rivers and is currently working on a series of River drawings and paintings focussing on chalk streams and their environment. Her teaching at the Hampshire Art studio has transformed students’ perceptions of what they can achieve, learning to relish the process, take risks, make mistakes and enjoy the process.
