Below is a  quick round-up of the courses on offer over the summer. I have to give numbers to the Ashmolean so would be grateful if those of you who are interested could get back to me quite quickly.

Summer courses

Ashmolean Museum; Drawing from Drawings

June 23rd, 12.00 – 4.30, £25, (includes exhibition entrance and guided tour)

A guided viewing of the Ashmolean Museum’s exhibition of British Drawings from Gainsborough to Hockney, followed by drawing in the cast room.

Inspiration from Longstock Park Nursery and Farm Shop

July 13th – 16th, 9.30am – 4.30pm, £260/ 4 days, (£150 / first 2 days)

Sketching and research on site at Longstock Park Nursery and Farm Shop developed into a finished piece at Wherwell Priory Studio.

August 10th – 13th, 9.30 – 4.30, £260/ 4 days

5 things to pack in your holiday art bag


ART DRAW PAINT

It is holiday time of year -Packing is an art form -I ALWAYS take too many things with me on holiday.


When I go on holiday I have plans, aspirations, good intentions, and hopes – I’m sure you know what I mean. I used to pack accordingly, and on arrival I was almost too scared to open my very heavy art bag.

This does not need to happen. Less is more, as always.

  1. 1 sketchbook, no bigger than A4 (possibly a handbag size one as well but you will NEVER use both)
  2. 1 roll masking tape (small)
  3. 2 x Faber Castell thick pencils, 3B and 7B, 2 x diposable WH Smith retractable pencils with rubbers on the end
  4. 2 black waterproof pens of different thicknesses
  5. 1 set KohiNoor soluble dyes and a medium size…
